We woke up around 5.30am again for an early breakfast with our tour friends. Had a nice night's sleep considering it was on a boat. Our breakfast was once again interrupted by a tantrum, but only a little one that required a little miss to go back to the room and go into time out.
Checked out of the floating hotel and onto a boat which took us to a Cham Village near Chau Doc. This place was excellent. Looked at the Cham houses and watched the villagers taking photos of the kids with t...
We were up and about at around 7 this morning. Didn't know how to use the shower so had to get the guy in to have a look and show us. The bathroom is a snafu. It is shower, sink and toilet in one.
After having a shower, we headed out to breakfast in the hotel restaurant. After struggling with low-speed internet and terrible food, we decided to go out and spend the day viewing the sights of Phnom Penh. We hired a tuk-tuk driver, Lucky, for the day and he took us to the S-21 Museum.

Phnom Penh, Phnum Penh, Cambodia hantulaut... Det for $1, and these were charging $8! So I got back into the Tuk-Tuk and asked Winston (that was his name he said) to take me to the Riverside to check out there. Once there I found a decent place for $10 a night, with cable, air con and a hot shower and settled in. Winston never charged me for the fare after all, as he wanted me to use him the next day to check out the Killing Fields and other touristy stuff, so we agreed on a price for that and a time and off he ...

We needed cash anyways for the $20 visa fees, so Bill was escorted to an ATM and took out money. When he came back and they said the visa was $40 plus $5 for the extra page, Bill said 'Sorry, I only took out $40' (i.e. goi pound sand) -- meanwhile with $300 more in his pocket. They handed over the visas and we were on our ...
Phnom Penh, Cambodia wjford... vat. As I watched an entire foot float by, I pretty much wrote that one off, although it wouldn't be the first time I had found a bird foot in my food unexpectedly. Which left me with a dish which looked even worse, in the fact ti was totally unidentifiable. The final dish, looked like at least parts of it were edible, if not palatable, so I went for that one. I wouldn't exactly call it my favorite meal since I've been travelling.

And then comes the serious bit. The Killing ...

Phnom Penh, Cambodia supremacy... of which the world had never seen. Declaring himself to be 'Brother Number One' and setting the date to 'Year Zero' and the name of the country to be 'Democratic Kampuchea', he immediately abolished currency, education, religion, culture and communications. All citizens were relegated to peasant status and forced to march en mass into the countryside as part of an agrarian Maoist co-operative. The young, the sick and the elderly were no exceptions and they too were ...
