Friday 22nd July
Fine, cloudy 28 degrees

Every morning, hundreds of monks from the various monasteries walk through the streets of Luang Prabang collecting alms. We set the alarm to get up to watch the dawn procession. We purchased some food from a vendor who provided a mat for us to kneel ready for when the monks passed. Each monk …

Situated in the mountainous region of northern Laos and beside the mighty Mekong, so it's extremely picturesque. …

We were very pleased with our room - very clean, beautiful wooden furniture and very soft bed. The staff were very helpful when we had a problem with our toilet (the moved us immediately) but they'll all moody so don't expect any smiles.
