Ban Wat Nong Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep, 00001
Muang Ngoi Neua, Lao Peoples Dem Rep jbuetlerAfter spending about 5 days in Luang Prabang, I decided it was time to move on. Originally, my plan was to make my way south through Vang Vieng, then over to the Vietnam border, but after getting feedback from other travelers, I instead caught a bus north to the village of Nong Kiaow. The bus was a "local" bus, meaning it holds about 20 people in seats that have been taken from airplanes, trains and other buses. You're crammed in like sardines, while your luggage is precariously balanced on t...

Well they don't. Cocks do. Cocks crowing at 4am do, especially when they try and compete with all the other cocks and practically strangle themselves stupid trying to squeeze that little bit extra out. And for what? Anyway.. If you're craving a bit of peace and quiet and need to get away from the masses, or even dabble in a bit of real Lao life, you...

The captains of the boats use their experience and the surface of the river to guide them through the rocks in the Mekong and as the water had become so choppy it was hard toi see where the rocks were. For safety and more likely to avoid damaging his boat we stopped a couple of times but not for long. The journey was a bit more tiring this time as it was a bit more crowded and the scenary was very similar to ...

I had a wander around the street markets buying a few t-shirts to get me through to Bangkok ,then off to find a bar that was showing the Man utd vs Liverpool match as the Irish lads were all Man utd fans. Straight after the game we walked home to catch the arsenal match in the hostel as we were catching a slow boat down the Mekong to Pak Bang tmrw at 07:00.

In one such cave, the Tham Ting, some four thousand statues stand around in varying levels of darkness. In this cave we found an oracle in the form of a bunch of numbered sticks in a container.
