... leave the city though. We are booked onto a bus tomorrow at 0730 and the route today was cancelled so we may have spoken a little too soon). Heading from Christchurch we made the 337km journey to Picton on Naked Bus, with the most infuriating driver. We were on a tight time frame, along with everyone else on board, to make the 1:15pm ferry crossing to the North Island, so when we left 10 minutes late because the driver couldn't decipher the right way up to hold his phone we ...

It only took about 2 hours to get to Nelson but there was not one bit of straight road. Not one. I have never been on such a winding road in my life. By now, a deluge was in full flow and, whilst paying for parking, Ben received a soaking that left ...

... Mount Doom and Mordor are based on. Tongariro hike was quite an exhausting undertaking: the complete hike is 21km long and takes, depending on your hiking speed, breaks and number of stops to take selfies, anywhere from 7h-9h. I teamed up with a guy from Sweden who was also staying in my hostel and as we were getting a little cold we rushed it a bit and did the hike in 6.5h.

... that and it was fab so obviously the chef can really cook! Great test for a chef is can they cook a vegan meal, they've got to make a meal from scratch lol. Considering it's such an amazing venu with limited seats, it cost the same as an upmarket pub dinner back in the UK. So far were not really sure where the comments about NZ dining being so expensive have come from. Probably not from someone who has lived in the UK. Our hostel is ...
