The Bo tree is said to have grown from a cutting from the original tree that Buddha meditated beneath. It is probably the most sacred tree in existence. It has been continually tended and worshiped for 2000 years. Thousands of Sri Lankans come here every day to pray. For me this was a moving experience.

    try not to get the rooms outside. the a/c doesnt work well at all. pretty clean. The restaurant was good, tasty curry and rice. Could get wine as well as cold beer. A quiet location and very helpful girl at counter.
