... some waves. We later learned that the name was randomly given to the town as an attraction and not because it's any kind of dream location for surfers. And after spending a week here, I soon discovered the town is anything but paradise. Literally all there was in this town was hundreds of hotels. Woke up for our last day in Byron and had an early breakfast ready to get our stuff together and check out. We decided to leave our bags at the hostel so that we could go out and do our final lot of exploring. We wondered into town for a sushi lunch. The proper kind with the conveyer belt and coloured dishes. It was really good and I'm glad I managed to convince Mel to try something new - even if it meant a few little white lies on route. We got to Byron and it was packed! We stayed 1st at a place called arts factory and it was so busy with people after the festival. it seemed like a nice hostel as it was very natural but way too many drunk people. ... lot of our time there, when it wasn't raining that is! We also saw a guy doing some sand art which was pretty amazing.

Of course as we were back on the backpacker trail, no stay in a hostel is complete without a good old drink! We met some nice people in Byron and had a few nights out including a night spent drinking on the beach which was very entertaining!!
