      ... br> After a fashion show of Dad’s new clothes we went for some oysters at Thalia and then dinner at ABC Kitchen in the Flatiron district. I had been trying unsuccessfully to get a table there for months and eventually managed to reserve one with the help of our friend Steph who lives out here.       ... and asked for some spare change for her help, to be honest it was well worth it!! We entered through the turnstiles and the train pulled in straight away and we boarded. After a couple of stops the passenger numbers thinned and we were all able to sit down. Our stop was the last stop of the line and you need to be on the first five cars to be able to get off or the rest of the cars remain in the tunnel!!       ... baseball.
      As soon as we got off the train you could tell it didn't appear to be a very pleasant area.
      Game was good, boys enjoyed it and we got to see a few home runs and catches. Yankees ended up winning in the 9th innings after trailing by 1 for quite a few innings.
      Was a good night and nearly midnight by the time we got back to our hotel.
      Sad news today that Joan Rivers passed away here in New York.

      Well, what a start to our day! All slept well and caught up (possibly with exception of Rick, who will catch up tonight!).
      Breakfasted and Rick put some bread to toast but forgot it and it burnt - neck min - smoke alarm started beeping but after a minute it stopped so we all relaxed. We could still hear a bell ringing but I decided it was the school bell so didn't worry too much. Fire engines then came down the street which we watched ...
