A travel blog entry by scottiebigtrip

Freaked out this morning when couldn't go on online banking because Barclays had frozen our accounts. Then popped downstairs waited because had to change rooms again. As we waited we heard some backpackers ask and buy visas for Vietnam, they were only charged $65 each instead of $70. Basically the guy that's not normally on the reception ripped us …

Day 194 - Alex still poorly.....

In most of the day, went out for food but not too far from the hostel!

Day 193 - Chinese Embassy . . .

A travel blog entry by scottiebigtrip

Up nice and early, reprinted Alex's forms and then Tuk-Tuk across the city to the Embassy. The man looked at my forms and stack of supporting evidence, and straight away scribbled out where I had ticked 'Multiple Entries 6 months,' which would allow us to do the placements and travel for about 3 months that we wanted. Great! Then spoke...and told …

Our passports are with the hostel for our visa for Vietnam, so we can't do anything for the Chinese visa today. We set out and had a safe lunch at the coffee shop..we are locals now. Then got harassed down the whole street by Tuk-Tuk drivers. We then headed up a long main road and popped into 'Dara Photocopying and Printing' which made us laugh. …

Day 191 - Dodgy stomachs

A travel blog entry by scottiebigtrip

Decided this morning at 5am to leave getting up early for the embassy...good idea as Alex can't go to far away from the hostel today. Had a bit of lunch at the hostel and then decided to get our Vietnamese visa sorted as we can't go to the Chinese embassy today. We left our passport with the hostel staff and headed to the ATM to pay for our visa, …

We arrived late and got a tuk tuk pick up from the airport which was great, the beds in the dorms were sturdy and didn't creak which is always a plus, the food is excellent and the staff are extremely accommodating!

Great guesthouse - cool, modern, clean, well run, friendly, good location, good food, good internet connection, good tuk tuk drivers outside, plus monkeys.

Good clean rooms with A/C and TV. Right next to the river and Wat Phnom. Tony Mantana working at the front desk was brilliant. Good food too, but a little overpriced.

A bit far away from the action and breakfast was fairly expensive. Not too many other options around for b'fast meaning we had to eat there.
Staff very friendly and room quite good.

This place is fine for a clean and new hotel in a resonable location. The staff are friendly enough although not as welcoming as I had found elsewhere in Cambodia.
