... visa applicants have to go to the Moscow embassy to apply, even if they live 5000 miles away in Vladivostok. So now, I have to go to London to present myself in person. Fair enough. And then the Chinese visa. A little less onerous but still involves lots of financial outlay. So now it's just waiting until my new passport arrives and then trusting a Russian travel agency with hundreds of pounds for the vague promise of train ...

... risk of upsetting my Ecuadorian friends) I had always felt overshadowed by Peru and this visit just compounded that feeling. It was this visit to Galapagos which confirmed that. Cronyism, corruption, poor management, internal migration and environmental destruction of the islands (most by the settlers) was not what I experienced. Of course not going to the Cameroon was also a disappointment, but thats another story.

... over. It was comical to see so many of them upside down like that. The water taxi let us off at the park that surrounds Cardiff Castle. As we walked to the castle entrance we saw what was left of an old outer moat and a huge wall that surrounds the castle grounds. The wall had animal statues at the top spaced about 10-12 feet apart.
