... the artsy crowd in Belgrade was present with the fashionistas in Delhi: everyone was so busy looking good, nobody was willing to dance. A hundred young, bright-eyed, English-speaking, impeccably dressed people on the terrace, stirring drinks to a thumping beat til 2am.

Anant and I just shook our heads and reminisced on Ibiza...

Mom Comes to Visit

... see India for herself.

On Thursday night, I took a ride with the driver to the Delhi International Airport to pick her up after a few long flights connecting through Paris. I found her leaving the baggage claim and after the excitement of seeing each other again, we walked outside. When we got outside I told her that she was lucky that her first night here had cool temperatures, and she gave me a look and asked if I was serious ...

... so we should pay him 500RPS instead of the agreed 200. This seemed incredibly unfair to us, since he had pretended to know where he was going and subsequently got us lost. We ended up paying him 400RPS and just walking away. By this point, we had lost the other rickshaw with the other five guys in, so we waited outside the hotel. Sandra and I decided to venture inside to check we were even at the right place. As we walked up to the front gate, we were greeted by a couple of finely ...

... slowly fitted into the backpacking scene, steadily looking the part (a fraction more tanned than when we came - its 34c+ everyday) and becoming more adventurous to where we ate - having said that, I haven't eaten a single piece of meat since i've arrived in India, thats not to say that I don't want to, its a case of the vegetarian dishes being so good (and easier on the tummy) than other meat options. Throughout our time in Delhi we managed ...

"we must be looking absolutly stunning"

... our train number and platform number 6 (not the one we were on) did we think to ask. The platform had been moved at the last minute so, determined not to miss this train, we grabbed the backpacks as ran for our lives, up over the footbridge, down the otherside, jumping over sleeping people and barging people out of the way, we ran to one end of the train only to be told our carrage was at the other end ....still waiting on this good karma... we started running ...

... old on the other. Trust me i've tried. Nobody can not even Usain Bolt. You just ride out the strom or cross the road endangering your life. I endanger my life and survive. The Queen Vic is like a cross between The White House and the Taj Mahal but it doesn't serve beer. Splendid building but there's a queue and they want 250 rupees for the privilege and i pass. Past the racecourse and then i spot a game of cricket. Cross the road and enter the ground. It's the ...

... music it was a nice friendly atmosphere and I was surprised to see no other tourists there. Found a fancy restaurant to eat at Cannough Place. Managed to obtain some Delhi belly from there from a apparently innocent veg curry. The next day we had to get the train at 6.30 to Haridwar near Rishikesh and at first I thought I felt ill because I had to get ...

... get you truthful results which you can then use to bargain the guy down. I've also seen a bit of the downtown, Connaught Place, the Sanpath, the Rajpath with India Gate, and many many stunning buildings with fabulous Indian style architecture. As I mentioned, my life is somewhat uncertain right now with respect to where I'll live, classes, etc, but hopefully by next entry I'll have it figured out, or some of it anyways. Until next time, namaste...
