... checked in then went to a local Austrian restaurant down the road from our hotel for a late lunch. Katie had deep fried cheese and I had my first goulash which was like slow cooked big chunks of beef in a rich gravy type sauce with boiled spuds and fresh bread, delicious! We're now back at the hotel in the lobby both slightly nervous about the tour introduction meeting where we meet our tour group ...

So today I almost freaked out on the train because I got on at 10:00 am and I fell asleep. When I woke up it was pitch black outside; I thought I had missed my stop and that it was night time. It is among the largest botanical exhibits of its kind in the world with around 4,500 plant species. The gardens surrounding it was filled with topiaries which were all different sizes and fortunately still green!

We've been living in Sweden for over two months, and while it's a great (but expensive) place, there's definitely a little homesickness setting in. Not for the US, mind you--that's always there. This is a more surprising form of yearning. Yes, we miss Austria.

Not ALL of Austria, mind you, but enough to make a return trip to Vienna for Jaclyn's EnvEuro conference extremely enticing (and not just because we wanted to buy beer for less than ...
