    Proper lie in this morning- none of us awake until about half nine and by the time we'd all showered, dressed, breakfast, and thomas had finished a mardy about i can't remember, it was gone 12 by the time we got out. Straight to the beach for kicking a football and managing absolutely no rallies at all at volleyball.

    A very very kind bus driver dropped us down the round with no charge so we could walk round to Shelley Beach. Love this little bay where there are no surfing ...

    5PM (Chinese time) crossing the equator. Another first.

    6PM (over South China Sea) just left the Philippines behind. Looks like it could be pretty stormy below the clouds.

    7:15PM (over Hong Kong) started descent into Guangzhou. Lightning all around the plane,

    7:20PM whoa - I think we just dropped hundreds of feet in one hit. Turbulence is really bad.

    7:35PM on the ground.

    8PM Queuing ...

    ... Sunday is $2.50 day , which means that you can ride public transportation all for the low price of $2.50! We walk a couple blocks to the underground station and take the train down to Central Quay so that we can catch the ferry to Bondi Bay. The trains are all double deckers.. clean and comfortable..what a great system. Ten minutes later we exit the Central Quay (pronounced K), and walk over to the ferry. ...

    ... the park, admiring the views for a while. Heaven. Down past foundation park, I stopped for a couple of choccies and onto Circular Quay heading for the Opera House to check out the inside this time! And, as seems to be the way with this adventure, everything just seems to fit perfectly into place. I rock up and there's a tour in 15 minutes! Woo!     Today, Karen and I explored the wonderful Royal Botanic Gardens, which were a short walk from our hotel. We encountered multiple interesting birds and a great diversity of fabulous planting material. If you are ever here, absolutely do not miss this extraordinary garden.
