        A perfect place for moi

Lydia's place was recommended to me by a couple of friends. It is a lovely place, I have a studio apartment which includes my very own kitchen, air con, a fan, and a T.V., which allowed me to watch the Grey Cup game. It is simple, but clean; Lydia is wonderful; her and I had a great chat this afternoon. It is a couple of minutes walk from the beach, and about a 10 minute walk into the Village. I liked the place so much that I extended my stay by two weeks, on the second day I was here!!

If you don't like Lydia's Guesthouse and its charming host then you are going to find it hard to fit in to Placencia. It's reasonably priced, comfortable, offers hot showers, a shared kitchen amd wifi. And it's a stone's throw from the beach. A great place to kick back and slot into the easy going pace of this homely Caribbean village.

Tyrone, can be found along the "sidewalk" in the village of Placencia, in Belize, creating exquisitely beautiful, handcrafted wood carvings which are made from an array of Belizean woods. He primarily works with such woods as Mahogany, Rosewood and Ziricote, all native to Belize. He tells me that his favourite wood to work with is Ziricote. Tyrone …

Ahhhh...the end of the rainy season has been welcomed by sunny days and humid nights. Today was blissfully spent in a hammock nestled under and supported by a sea-grape tree and a palm tree. It was absolute heaven; thank goodness for an off-shore breeze and the shade from both trees. Reading and napping was the order of the day, as the previous few …

It is a cloudless day, the sky is a baby blue colour with a faint gauzy white half-moon. There is a light breeze rustling the palm trees, but the wind does little to lessen the effects of a very hot day. The breeze does not give up though, it keeps getting stronger and intermittently making it more comfortable for longer moments.

It's been two weeks today since those airplane doors opened and the scent of sea air hit my nostrils. To feel that wonderful sensation again as my feet hit the top of the roll-a-away steps, and having my eyes blinded by the bright sunlight, my face being warmed by the wafting Caribbean breeze - I knew that I had, once again, reached my second home …

Were we glad to get out of Guatemala City! Without being unkind, it really is a horrid place. If it had some interesting places to visit, some attractive old buildings, a park or two to stroll around these might just make …
