... and has a population of over 180,000. But we were off to Pisa and Firenze which you may know better as Florence. The thing that we were reminded of often through the commentary was the age of the buildings and the way things have changed over time. Today Pisa is some 10 kilometres from the coast, but in the 11th century it was a major seafaring town in the Mediterranean. Over the centuries of time, the coast has moved. Quite amazing.

Mid-afternoon and we stumbled upon Torre Guinigi- a tall tower with trees ontop. Climbing the 350+ steps was a challenge after an already long day of walking but the views at the top were well worth it. ... place to stop and have a picnic. We then completed the tour of the walls on the bikes (aside from the baking hot weather, it made one of the easier bike rides we've ever done), and having returned the bikes wandered into the town centre to have a closer look. What a lovely town!

... on it....we were passing everyone. I tried to be small as I could.....I got great gloves....they are padded well. The only thing is that the padding has gaps were you bend your fingers. So all of a sudden I start getting hammered right in the gap on me knuckles doing 110 on both hands on three fingers.......felt like someone took a ball-peen hammer to me fingers....felt it swelling up....but had to hang on and just go......or ...
