3. A Dime - No, not a popular brand of crispy chocolate bar, but a 10 cent coin of the American currency which will remain in my waist pouch until I (eventually) reach the United States, wherein I will find some suitable person to pass it back to - along with the story. So you see this isn't just a random trip around the world: this is a serious attempt at tackling the global recession by returning money to the U.S ...
Well after a good nights sleep, well I did but Martyn woke up complaining bitterly that he was kept awake by another form of wind from Leigh? we woke up to.. yes you guessed it, RAIN! but with the added benefit of of strong winds with gusts up to gale force strength..nice!
Once everyone had checked out of the Motel we set off for Glasgow on the scenic route via Otterburn & Haywick, stopping for breakfast at the very friendly Percy Arms in Otterburn ...
What a lovely day I've had.
I was a tad sleepy this morning as I didn’t sleep well last night and also probably due to the fact of yet another late night out with Rachel partying on sat, but what a fun night! I must admit the flight has been playing on my mind ALOT and I’ve had the shakes BAD but I went into town this morning and got some Kalms and Mum got me some Sealegs which should hopefully help ...
... town. We were able to drive the Ambleside and Crook and saw some of the stunning country side. Many stone cottages and fences, lovely valleys and hills. Unfortunatley it was not the weather for any walking which is one of the main attractions of the area.
Had a very relaxing weekend and a stunning meal at Postillion resturant. 28 years! where has it gone.
... coach ride home. It was funny, we left in plenty of time, but the traffic on the motorway was TERRIBLE! WE actually parked the car in a bus zone, ran across the road to the bus station and just made it in time for my departing bus...ahhh my adrenalin was definitely pumping!! Fun fun =]
Oh, I nearly forgot: Haggis is delicious, but apparently i was cheated out of real Scottish haggis (according to Dave and Alex)... which has left me deeply confused. Mine ...
... back to Hawkshead.
We had planned to stop in Ambleside on the way home to see the Roman ruin "Galava", which unfortunately turned out to be a muddy field with some ridges in. Most disappointing, and it started to rain again as we walked back to the car, leading to a damp drive home. On a positive note, we did get home in a record four hours, just in time for Eartha to watch Dr Who.
... local stone and was heavily besieged with the rising brook. The trees opposite were already underwater.
Back at the hut, the key was nowhere to be found. We stood in the porch feeling damp and sorry for ourselves, whilst the rain continued to bucket down. I searched under every stone and in each possible hiding place. Clearly someone had been back and gone out again. We dripped pathetically and considered our options.
My car was there, but the ...
The rain came down in sheets. There were gusts of wind that blew clouds of water across the motorway. The night was pitch black and spray from the road surface obscured the tail-lights of the cars infront. Many cars had their fog lights on to try to cut through the storm.
The rain beat continuously on the windscreen. I started to wonder how many thudding drops glass needs before it starts to ...
Tow truck 2, turns up at 15:29 and we are off again for the next leg of the journey, Stirling Services to Lancaster Services. This journey takes around 4 hours and I have a nice chat with the driver, Jim all the way. We phone ahead and arrange the next tow truck to meet us at Lancaster at 19:15, guess what? Yes, it wasn't there and I am told it won't be there until 20:15 and it finally arrives at 20:30
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom peterwardLake District was the northernmost area we visited. That's probably why the Lake District is one of the best attractions of U.K. John told me the story of Beatrix Potter, the author of Peter Rabbit.
Actually, I don't remember which lake I visited, because John took me there. I still remember I took a boat to the opposite ...
