More Traveler Reviews of Lindsay Guest House Edinburgh
A gem of a find
from pepeingle on 2007-03-20
We have just spent 6 nights at this friendly, family run guest house, which is ideally situated for easy access to the city centre (the bus stop is just outside with a 10 minute service). The rooms are large, well appointed, individually decorated and very clean. The 'cooked to order' breakfasts are highly recommended - but not for slimmers! Keith is a wealth of information on where to go and what to do and also has an extensive knowledge of Scottish history. He and Pam will ensure you have a great stay. We have no hesitation in recommending it.
NB There are lovely walks along the canal which runs behind the house.
Edinburgh's Best Kept Secret
from campkristen on 2007-03-02
The Lindsay Guest House is the best kept secret of Edinburgh (until now...). I travel to Scotland once a year in the middle of January and I always stay here. While Scotland in January is quite cold the warm greeting you receive from Pamela and Keith truly makes up for it. They are not only helpful with providing the most up-to-date information on tourist attractions and public transportation...but they also shed light on the hip new restaurants and Scotland's proud history. The breakfast sure puts you in a good mood with its wide variety and consistency and the rooms are clean and will definitely exceed your expectations. While I can only make it to Edinburgh once a year, I hope you can take advantage of Edinburgh's best kept secret!
Great stay in great city!

We had tickets to watch Scotland play Italy in the rugby six nations tournament, all we needed was accomodation for one night so we searched for hotels in Edinburgh and found Lindsay Guest House.
Although we did not stay there for long, we were made to feel very welcome in a lovely environment, with warm and friendly hosts, Pamela and Keith.
The breakfast was of a wide variety and we chose 'The Lindsay' breakfast which was superb.
We would definately return there the next time we visit the brilliant Edinburgh!
Home from home

We have stayed at the Lindsay Guest house twice now. Without a doubt we shall stay there again. It is perfectly located for all the attractions of Edinburgh and easy to find. The rooms are majestic, my girlfriend loves the curtains, and the breakfast is a treat. Keith and Pamela are generous and entertaining, they even let us have their taxi. It does feel like a home from home.....
Perfect place to stay...

had a 2day-stay at lindsay guesthouse in september after a tour through scotland: a beautiful place in a tastefully house with an excellent breakfast and friendly, helpful hosts. Location is very good: quite but close to the city. Jutta (Germany/Frankfurt)
Perfect!

Stayed at the Linday for one night during a flying visit to Edinburgh to visit our daughter who is at university there. Usually we stay longer and in a 'mainstream' hotel but after staying here I don't think we will stay anywhere else now! Located in a nice quiet area a short bus ride from town - we walked and it took about 30 minutes. It was great to be able to park the car right outside. Room was HUGE and very clean, great breakfast, which kept me going all day. We also found the owners to be friendly and helpful. There are a few good quality cafes and restaurants a short walk away if you don't fancy going into town, we went to Peckham's, well recommended.
Lovely Stay!

We stayed at the Lindsay over the bank holiday and booked very late and were amazed at our luck!
The city was teeming with people and to find such a great place to stay at the last minute was incredible. Pam and Keith were very welcoming and helpful. The room was perfect and looked out over the canal at the back of the property. It was a pleasant walk into town along the canal, which took about 30 minutes. Although there was also a frequent bus from just outside.
The breakfasts were fantastic and offered a wide choice for all.
I can't really fault the place!

We stayed at the Lindsay Guest House in August 2006, and to summarise, we would recommend it to any other travellers. The house is large and well-decorated. We had a huge bedroom overlooking the street, although the bedroom was very quiet due to double-glazed windows. The bedroom was sparkling clean and was well furnished, and there was coffee/tea making facilities. We had an en-suite bathroom, which had everything we needed and was clean and neat. The breakfasts were superb with a choice of breakfasts available. We usually took the bus (which leaves from just outside the house) into the city. The bus service is regular (runs every 10 minutes except on Sundays when it runs half-hourly) and convenient, and takes about 10 minutes into the heart of the city. There is off-street parking available for 3 cars, but there is plenty of free parking available in the street in front of the house. Although the hosts very friendly and helpful, we thought they could have been more welcoming - after staying there for two days they had not even asked our first names or where we had come from. This was our only issue, and it would not prevent us from recommending the Lindsay Guest House to other travellers.

I found the Lindsay on the internet and really didn`t know what to expect but it was ideal. A lovely house, furnished with taste and care, great breakfasts, comfort and cleanliness. It`s away from the city centre in a quiet suburb but the bus service was excellent (about 10/15 mins to Princes Street) and inexpensive. Keith and Pam know just about everything you might need to know about the city and I will certainly use it again the next time I go to Edinburgh.
