... br>16th October - we meant to go to Ta Chi lessons - but didn't get up in time, but we did make the bus to go to the bamboo rafting. It was just glorious and calm - no rapids - just a very serene trip down the Li River on a bamboo raft for about 1.5 hours - so picturesque, surrounded by these eerie mountains.

17th October - early but to Dazhai (Longji Terraces)

Had a fantastic day floating down the Li River on the boat. Were seated downstairs first and then once the boat got underway we were able to walk around and go up on the top deck which was open air and great for taking photos.

In the afternoon we went to a local cave and floated in some mud baths and swam in a hot spring. We are awaiting some photos to be emailed and will put them up later... What a day!

One is in the shape of a butterfly and another is in the shape of a couple embracing in a dance. They were both so perfect that Bill and I think it is a hoax. ... It wasn't until I reached the meat section I freaked out! It was very fresh meat. Let's just put it that way. In the tiny, dirty, open rooms, behind the tables holding their meat, they had the animals caged up. Some bleeding to death, but not quite dead, just suffering. The rooms had the cages, the grills, the people chopping the animals apart on big boards.
