    ... drive the RV through several tunnels and we were concerned that they would be tall enough for us. The signs indicating the height were confusing, but we got through them fine. As you come out of the first tunnel, it is like you are in a different world. The view is of the valley, and you can see El Capitan and the Half Dome and it was just breathtaking.     ... we are camped next to Susie lake and a beautiful lake she is! I think they named her after my beautiful wife Suzi, they just screwed up the spelling! My friend Bill Gay or "Balloo the bear" (PCT name), has been talking about this lake ever since he and his son Brandon "Goofy" hikes past it on their 900 mile PCT section hike in 2012.     ... Tahoe's past earthquakes. We were able to manipulate a 3D sand topography model and create watersheds. We ended the tour with a lesson on watershed and water pollution followed by an interactive board game all about Lake Tahoe. As an adult with an environmental science background, I learned so much! Imagine what students could take away from an experience like this!

    ... Caragh and boys back in room before off to Christmas mass. Lovely, classic small town mass. Effervescent and affable 70 yr old Irish priest who made reference to Aussie guests. Great choir, lots of carols including all the great non-religious ones (eg. Silver Bells, Winter Wonderland etc). Strangely, many sung with first verse in German, second in Spanish and Third in English. Sometimes priest even threw in Latin verses and prayers, for "old times sake". Kids did best ...
