23rd October 2014 We arrived in Sihankouville about 9am; the less said about the journey from Siem Reap the better. Neither of us could sleep on the 70' seats, especially as we were sat at the front where a ream of locals would get on and off and stand at the front - personally this meant any attempt to stretch my legs out would be met with an abrupt swipe away. We did have the opportunity to see an electric storm in the distance though which was quite cool! At about 4am we had ...

... driver kept telling us our coach was just over the border. Realisation came when one of the girls said 'why is that guy waving at us by that car..' The worst old banger I've ever seen. Yes that was our 'coach'. We realised the girl in the tourist place got it wrong somehow and this was our alternative transport. Secondly, I genuinely felt that it simply wasn't safe to be staying in ...

... lucky we are. After that we were more than happy to be heading to the beach. We arrived in Sihanoukville on Cambodia's south coast and were lucky enough to find a great hotel with a swimming pool for a cheap price ($26 including breakfast!) we spent a couple of days here relaxing, swimming and sunbathing. The beach in Sihanoukville has become a backpacker hotspot with competing bars even employing western backpackers to stroll the beach handing out flyers. It's also heaving ...

... just off shore. Another magical night in a far away place.

Tired, a little sunburned, full, and ready for bed we wandered home a little bit earlier than the rest of the group. Raising the glasses to us they wished us a good night's rest. We walked home hand in hand listening to the artillery shells from the beach go off and watching as they lit up the night sky in explosions of red, green, and gold, and thought to ourselves--another good day in the books. ...
