arrived shortly after Lunch in our home for the next week. La
Guyonie, a Dairy farm in Haute Charente (Middle of France really).
This is a 52h piece of land run by a Dutch Family of 5. Jon, Petra,
Perine (9), Isabella (5) and Marc (3). This is part of the program
'Helpx' where you do some work in exchange for food and lodgings.

In Bergerac Dad thought he remembered (from a cycle trip here 22 years ago) where there was an amazing public toilet that cleans itself automatically after each visit and we found it where he said. Funny what nonsense is stored in old brains..
We also received a brilliant, detailed two hour lecture and demonstration of truffle farming and have become interested in the idea of planting some truffles in NZ.
... a fantastic array of stalactites and stalagmites as well as drapes and other cave type formations, it also has authentic pre-historic cave paintings of horses and a man confronting a buffalo.
Something else ticked off my list of things to do before I die - look at authentic pre-historic cave paintings in the Dordogne.
We couldn't take photos in the cave so I have made do with a postcard. It rained as we cycled back to the campsite. Time to move ...
... of the gitte we are staying, Mike & Linda. Was a very pleasant afternoon. Back to Leo & Lennie's for a great dinner. Sad to say farewell to Leo & Lennie after they have been such great hosts and we thank them for that but we have to move on. Travis wants to stay but not possible. Got lost one last time on the way back but we're sure if we had stayed another night we would have gotten it right. Off to Salart then Rocamadour tomorrow.
... meal was mashed potatoes & beef borg stuff, and as much as you like. If you ran out they would bring you more. Cheese & dessert was the same. All this for around 15 euros. Best value plus best tasting meal on the trip so far. Home by 9:30 and an early night. Off to Leo's tomorrow to help cut wood & relax. Should mention the weather, it has been sunny and around 27 degrees since leaving Paris.
