... of a watchtower which is falling into the sea. Hendix is supposed to have been inspired to write "Castles made of sand" from his visit to the ruins, despite the song having been written prior to his visit...

Despite this the beach is great to explore we found an old castle in the sand dunes and tried to name all the features of coastal erosion and deposition we could see from leaving cert geography (i got extra points for long shore drift!). ...

In the evening we were lucky enough to be taken to a local family's home for dinner. The family was absolutely lovely, especially their two young daughters and were very generous.
