... the sky was very blue, with only an occasional fair weather cloud, and the sea was ever so calm. Our sails were up, but there was not enough wind to carry us without the help of the engine. Wow. How beautiful this day is! I guess we paid our dues last year. This crossing to Cannes is around 16 hours... So with a little luck, we should be in Cannes by 8:30p.m. Checking with all my weather info, and Jacques making a couple of calls, we MUST get to Cannes tonight. ...

... was frustrating, as Michael had paid a deposit for this one. Hopefully he would be able to get a refund based on being provided the wrong information. We ended up finding another hotel in Latte, after the GPS took us to the supposed centre of the town, which ended up being in the middle of nowhere. We left our car on the street for the first time, the lady in the hotel reassured us that it would be safe. So we had somewhere to stay for the night which was a relief.

... then upgrade on the day of (as you board) you can save tons of money- granted you run the risk of not being able to get a bed or room together or at all.

Hotel- we found a great hotel not too far from the beach, with friendly staff, they held our bags for us upon arrival and the room was comfortable. The only downside was the fact that the shower had no curtain and because of how the holder was positioned the water sprayed ...

... so he drove it to the airport......so drove around trying to find road to airport. Finally made it there, took an hour to process car back and even if it was going to cost heaps, got a taxi to hotel....was 38 euro but couldn't have gone on any further. Lovely day, hotel on waterfront yachts bobbing in harbour, cafés everywhere. Slept for a few hours, Simon then went out and brought some iced tea and bottled water and no dinner just fluids and sleep...and ...

... and here the city's Italian influence really comes through with the cafes, pizzerias and architecture. We enjoyed the many beautiful public squares (even more beautiful, illuminated at night) and the fragrant flower market. Finally a must-do is the short climb up to Castle Hill, where the coast can be seen from above and best appreciated, in all its glory.
