    Before leaving Brixham which is a large seaside town with so many tourists, we drove to the harbour to see the replica of the Golden Hind which is the boat that Sir Walter Raleigh sailed in. Went through Paignton to Torquay, a more upmarket tourist town and saw the coloured cabanas on the beach which were there when I came there in 1961. Also so many yachts . Drove through Babbacombe on the outskirts of Torquay where there are lovely hotels ...

    ... to kayak 150 km along the Gironde estuary in Bordeaux France in to raise money for support military rehabilitation. A very emotional and inspiring story. It gave the kids a chance to reflect on the real impact of war. And given his accomplishments both as a soldier and in overcoming his injuries, a true hero.
