    We're getting ready for the off. Dogs to be brushed tonight and last minute essentials to be bought tomorrow: tummy tablets for Martin, insect repellent for me.

    It's the start of a year out travelling for both of us.

    ... and see and do so much in our 3 weeks.

    We are sad to be leaving the two girly dogs but I am sure they are in safe hands with Jamie and Andy, and we can always skype them! Ha!

    ... but muffins of the bigtop variety exist as well. A crumpet is what happens when an English muffin and a pancake have a baby.

    A Scotch egg is a peeled hard-boiled egg inside a pork and breadcrumb meatball.

    As is the case everywhere, all the desserts are delicious. So far we've tried trifle, apple and blackberry crumble, bread and butter pudding, sticky toffee pudding, custard and Eton's mess.

    The beer is great, the gin is great. Tea is absolutely sacred.
