... Bridge, which crosses the river, dates from 1387 (and no, that's not a typo!). It's narrow enough that there has to be a set of traffic lights on either side so that traffic takes it in turn to cross... On the other side of the bridge is the suburb of Handbridge, which is home to the Shrine of Minerva. ... crowds to get a good view. The queue to get in was quite short and then I got right to it.
Some notes: They have a 6 day old Black Rhinoceros calf! The zoo is also home to a trio of newborn Sumatran tiger cubs and a giraffe as well. Sadly the cubs were hiding inside in the warmth, so I didn't get to see them but the rhino calf and giraffe were out and about!
The zoo is also home to a couple of Komodo Dragons, as well as two dozen chimpanzees, a couple more ...
Today sees us leaving Witton Gilbert with Passports! Vicky took us to Durham Station and then we caught the train and bus to Manchester Airport! The whole journey went very smoothly, with the exception of lugging large cases up and down stairs at York but hey ho! Very early in Airport - 1hr before gate opened. Looking forward to being frisked by Si but he's in Teneriffe! Both well and now waiting for Gate to open and signing off for next ...
We left abbey early, commencing the 2 hour drive to Chester, made longer by my slight error navigating, which, in my opinion, took us on a far more scenic route. We arrived, with the iPhone saying the temperature was 5', warmer than Cheltenham and London, at 4' and 3' respectively.
... br> We came upon a street festival with live music, food vendors, amusement rides, people dancing in the street and singers performing on small stages. It was a wonderful vibe and lots of people out enjoying the sun on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
