Hello everyone So we arrived safely in Bangkok after a journey that can only be described as epic and very tiring. We arrived on the first night grabbed some food and crashed out. The hotel was basic but the aircon worked a dream. Next day we had a lie in a took advantage of the roof top pool our hostel had - some great views of the city, pics coming soon. We then went to pat pong which was the most surreal experience - will be a great story to tell dad and steve when i get back involving a h...
Bangkok, Thailand buden86 So we decided to check into a different hostel this time, and eventually found Lamphu Guesthouse, just off Soi Rambuti (not spelt correctly, but phonetically gratifying). It was only about 300 baht a night with a shared bathroom. All we needed for a couple of nights in fairness. Saying that, the Thai weather was determined to follow us around like fools and it ****** it down. Proper monsoon season in sweaty Bangkok.
I caught up on about 2 weeks of this blog, and set about uploading ton...
After nearly three weeks in China, I was glad to be on my way to the western friendly Thailand. I had enjoyed China but was glad to say goodbye for now. It is a fairly demanding place. Everything is big and busy. Couple that with not being able to speak the native language and it soon gets tiring. I rose early and headed downstairs to have breakfast as I was due to go to the airport around mid day. A taxi ride later and I was in the fairly new and modern Macau airport and had the obligatory s...
Bangkok, Thailand coneicusAfter some deliberation, Mr. Shein and I have temporarily split paths. I took a night train back to Bangkok (where I reside now at lovely Lamphu house), and he has stayed in Chiang Mai for an extra couple of days with our British friends. There are a couple extra sites I want to see around Bangkok, and Shein is enjoying himself in peaceful Chiang Mai (and they have a golf course/driving range there, and we all know how Shein gets with that). We will be meeting back up in Bangkok in a fortnigh...
Bangkok, Thailand dspokoI arrived back where I started in Bangkok, here for two nights of Thai food and massages, and of course people watching on Khao San Road. This is one of those places that you either love or hate. At first it is overwhelming, its hot and busy and there are the strangest bunch of characters that you have ever layed eyes on, and I'm talking about the travelers! Stopping thru here for a short time, either starting their journey out, or just stopping in for a few days to trade out things from in s...
Bangkok, Thailand elizacassAt last I've managed to get my act together and finish off the final entry. I think I was reluctant to do it because it marks the end of such a great trip. Maybe I could carry it on into an Oz diary as well!!! Bangkok was the last stop on the trek. We left Ko Phi Phi on the 2pm ferry, made our way to Phuket town, ate a beautiful meal for 1euro and jumped on an overnight bus for a 14 spin to Bangkok! To be honest it was probably the most comfortable bus journey we had. There were 24 seats on t...
Bangkok, Thailand grynnAfter India I was ready for some Western comfort! And on that front Bangkok doesnŽt fail to deliver...... Even as I waited for my baggage in the space age confines of the new Suvarnabhumi airport I felt like IŽd crossed into another dimension (it really is one of the worldŽs most astonishing airports, architecturally and in terms of facilities.....though luckily this was two weeks before it was occupied by anti-government protestors!) Like most visitors to Bangkok mine was to be just the brie...
Bangkok, Thailand kealderraLadies and Gentleman, Despite the "unrest" in Thailand I have arrived safely and soundly. I have now been in Bangkok for two days. After finally learning a sufficient amount of the Indonesian language (including seperate dialects for different islands) I have now catipulted myself into yet another culture, another language, another religion and yes ... another smell. The first night that I arrived I took a bus from the airport to the "backpacking area" of the city, where partying and cheap pl...
