... 20 K for 'upgrades' and we will probably come in under that number because it is relatively cheap here in Phuket if you shop around - which we do. The other thing is that we both have many 'transferable skills' from our previous vocations. Ginette is extremely organized and a great planner, provisioner and organizer. Plus, she is very frugal (so am I!). My aviation background has prepared me very well for this transition. The weather aspect is pretty easy and risk-based ...

... another one bites the dust.... Only Zoe, mikayla and Leah to go. We head off to drop the kids to kids club for the evening session. The adults are planning a meal out on their own sans whinging and whining and not eating. Stu has just announced he might not eat dinner after all... Sigh. Driving down through the main tourist towns of Patong and Karron we couldn't help but notice how quiet it is here, this isn't the hustling busy Phuket I remembered from my last visit in 2009. The curfew had just been lifted the night before and I think all the travel warnings and the ongoing coo in Bangkok had really effected the tourism here. I felt sorry for the local people who relied on this to put food on their ...

... a little later than we'd liked - heading out at about 8.30/8.45, but it was like a ghost town. We literally walked around for an hour before we found a pizza place to eat, so obviously had pizza for dinner! Afterwards, we walked home an went to sleep. The next morning came and we got a minibus to the port where we then caught our ferry to Phi ...

... was like as some other travellers said its a funny night out. Now we know why...

Started off with a drink in this rock bar playing ACDC. We had loads of people coming up to us on the way asking us if we wanted to see a 'ping pong show' and we knew it wouldn't be a game of table tennis so walked swiftly past them all. After a cocktail at this rock bar (which was great!) we thought we'd pop in next door. We sat down and the drinks were far too expensive so tried to head ...
