... and also what to do with the cranberries. However my favorite was describing what a chocolate chip cookie was...and what's in it. That was pretty funny. Their cookies here aren't soft and generally don't have things on them. They're just like sweet crackers...so they were a little confused about the concept of a chocolate chip cookie.

After dinner we took our professors out to the bars, where people bought them no shortage of drinks. That made the ...

... High Court. We also saw some of St. Teresa's artifacts, like her cross cross, her rosary, and her ring finger. On the way out of the city, we stopped a great place with an awesome view of the city. There was also a thing called the four corners. It is a cross with four columns surrounding it that are connected at the top. We got some great pictures of the view. Then it was off to Segovia, where again, I slept on the way.

Weekend Excursion to El Escorial

... thought of himself as superior to the Pope in all regards and fashioned the Spanish Catholic Church according to his own religious beliefs. I imagine that many people have spat or stomped on his grave during the year, but his loyalists maintain fresh flowers on his grave at all times. It is hard to explain how awe-inspiring and yet offensive the site is, but it certainly merits a visit if you are ever in Spain.

St. Therese Of Avila

After our outrageous adventure in Santarem we were on the home stretch of our Pilgrimage. We were heading to Avila the home and birth place of the first female doctor of the church St. Theresa, and John of the Cross. We stayed and prayed in the church dedicated to her and walked around the town, it was a quick visit, and then we were off to Zaragoza.

Another week another country, so we headed on down to Spain for the weekend and as soon as we got in on Friday night we grabbed the car and headed to our hotel for the night. It was on the north side of town a bit out so we stayed in a 4* hotel which was lovely and cheap. The next day we jumped in the car early and headed off towards Avila didn't take too long on the ...

Watchtowers galore

Had a lazy start to the day. Caught the Metro to the main train station and then caught a train to Avila. Today I was doing a day trip out of Madrid. The guide book said the the town's city walls are quite impressive- I'm sold. One and a half hours and only €7 later I arrived. The old town is surrounded by a well preserved city wall with 88 watchtowers. The highest point of the wall is 12 metres high and the towers are 20 metres high at the gates. The cathedral is ...
