I just had to go and visit all the spots in Hermanus I used to frequent when I was much younger.
The first time was in 1978 and we stayed with 3 other families in a house in the center of town.
Unfortunately the town has expanded so much that it seem to have lost that "village by the sea" status.
I met one of my best girly friends in Gecko Pub at the new harbor in 2001, so I invited her to join me for the 3 days I stayed in ...
... disastrous birth, but a whale leaping out of the water and throwing itself sideways for no readily apparent reason. This ends sharpish, so I hang around for another hour or so to considerately tell all the later comers what they've missed and offer round my photos. It's only considerate innit.
Later at the hostel I hang around with the owners and their friends as it seems to have ...
... the sharks got 3 tuna heads from us and 2 of the buoys. Pretty successful day for the sharks and for us!
I would like to make a shout out to my mom considering it is mothers day! She is a wonderful woman and I am proud to call her my mother. She has always been there for me whether it be helping me write papers, saving me from spiders or helping me financially. I appreciate all that she does, I wouldn't be where I am today without her. I love you mom!
Our first stop today was at Cape Agulhas. This is Africa's southernmost point and is where the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean meet. While here we also visited the lighthouse which was built in 1848. My trusty partner Karyn, climbed the first three sets of almost vertical stairs but couldn't bring herself to climb the last long ladder ...
... They met, he stayed and they later got married. They are an interesting couple, both love nature and the outdoors and they share my love for photography. Next month they are moving to Mozambique where they will both work at the Goronzola Nature Reserve. They are excited to have this opportunity.
Later after it's cooler I walk down to the water....just a short walk from their place and find a beautiful rock lined cove with waves pounding. There are ...
