    ... We went for a walk before we headed to B's Steakhouse for dinner. The steaks were good but the winner was their Ultimate Onion appetizer. A whole onion is sliced into a petal shape and deep fried then topped with herbed cream cheese and a sweet and slightly spicy salsa. Delicious! An excellent local red completed our dinner.

    It's Saturday and it's cool and it rained overnight. We are not sure what to expect for the day so ...

    As soon as we checked out of the apartment in Cape Town, we drove down the western coast and our destination was Hermanus to see the whales.     ... moment. I wanted to cry. He had the biggest smile on his face and he started kissing the ball. I didn’t think that I would get much of a reaction and especially not like that. I was so excited that he wanted and liked it! As he was holding it, he looked at me and said that him and his grandkids will cherish it. Just the littlest, simplest thing made his day – and mine. I think it will be very hard for me now to take for granted the little things in life when I return home to America. ...

    ... last one and the whole raft went over. My waterproof bag containing my camera came loose and floated separately down the river completely open to the elements and yet somehow my camera escaped any damage whatsoever. I was rescued by some Saffers who were having a party on a rock in the middle of the river and we all relaxed with a beer.
