Rain, Rain and more rain in Costa Rica

... but it was rough and rocky and after getting knocked about when only up to our knees, we decided against swimming, and headed back to cook dinner and have more cheap vodka... which just makes you sleep. Al was fast asleep within minutes and growling along side me, whilst the party music downstairs boomed until the early hours... moving on tomorrow and going to Tortuguero, after changing our plans a few times... I hope there is less rain there!

Our cousin had picked out a great spot to spend our time. El Silencio del Campo had everything you could want and then some. It was a cabin-room with enough space for the 3 of us, private bathroom, small fridge, TV (unnecessary), restaurant, pool and a ...

I just got back from our "tech visit" to the north of the country. I stayed with a family of almost all women minus the 2 year old boy who did anything he wanted including throwing rocks, throwing rocks at me, throwing rocks at the dog, throwing rocks at other rocks, riding his tricycle through ...

Alajuela to Puerto Viejo ... Day 2

... hectic. We would dive 40 km per hour and then all the sudden able to go 100 km per hour. This became the way it was and so we adjusted. The drive took us from San Jose through Heredia, Guapiles, Guaclmo, Squirres, Limon, Cahuita and ultimately into Puerto Viejo. The entire drive to Limon was on Highway 32. As we went through Heredia, the drive became very pretty, we entered the jungle, cloud forests and ...

... to the hoards of surfers/kids within and just far enough out of town (1-2km) to make sure people didn't stray too far from it. SUCH a good idea, and a perfect location for it. Someone is making a killing.

Time to get out of Costa Rica. My initial impression that is is EXPENSIVE and has nothing unique to offer (unless you are David Attenborough) seems to be correct, and i'm not the only one with the same idea.

... if you-know-who hadn't made me lay it down. When we were done we did the fist bump and I believe he will be my english student when we get back. Seems he is having trouble with it in school. As for the other four, that will require more investigation upon our return. Three of them are local I believe and the other one is the cousin of my future student and lives in another town. Other projects that are getting finished before school starts are the Pre-K ...

The beach was beautiful and unlike other spots in the Caribbean we've been to had large waves to jump around in, instead of being like a big warm bath. Emmet and i made some more unsuccessful attempts at boogie boarding, but mostly just threw ourselves about like children in the surf. Our Irish mates and ...
