I knew as soon as I saw the website for the school on Margarita Island it was the place for me! Despite the political unrest and the recession here in Venezuela my purpose is still clear and the possibilities are endless....at the very least I can obtain online students who will pay me in US dollars that can be exchanged at a rate of about 175 Venezuelan Bolivars ...

... He seemed to know also exactly where the birds would be and took us to a white Heron who fishing on one of the little islands and to a blue Heron who patiently posed for us while we took photos. They must be used to tourists and were not perturbed by us clicking away. Ashore we spotted an iguana and lots of little crabs making their way out of the mangrove. There was nice little market nearby where I purchased a lovely pink ...

Slept a bit better with the a/c on though had to switch off
in the middle of the night – the parrot and nearby cocks (or was it just the
parrot imitating some?) weren’t too disturbing.

Coffee’d up (strong but not good) got an early start to
playa El Caribe – nice, quiet and not too hot but no traffic so had to take a
cab – knocked him down 10 bolivares to 20! Had ...

... Yaque you don’t need to go to Porlamar – take the public bus
that leaves on the hour (or slightly earlier!!), every hour during the day, to
the main highway(7 bsf) where you can get a collective minibus direct to
Juangriego terminal(10bsf). From there a collective taxi from stand 14,
labelled La Galera, will for 6 bsf get you to Hotel Patrick, though it is
actually not far and if you knew where you were ...

... beach bordering the lagoon was dirty & glass strewn, then
there were several more baylets to cross, each with its own challenges, be they
being built up to the waters edge, guarded by vicious dogs, with mucky creeks
to cross or weed strewn with pockets of very soft (but not quite quick!) sand.
The beach proper though was well maintained, the water reasonably clear, with
even a few fish visible when swimming!

Enjoyed sampling a couple of the local beers ...
