... side of the road. The roundabouts do your head in a bit. All the French people we have met so far have been wonderful. Helpful and smiling and trying to help which is great. The countryside is delightful with tree lined roads and little villages snuggled into nooks and crannies and there is always the beautiful old church and graveyard to go with it. ... were many student groups in the city. We then drove on into France to Abbeyville which is on the Somme River. It was. Pleasant drive through the fields of Flanders and northern France. The crops of cereal are about 400 mm high and the farmers are busy spraying. The country side is lush green. Had to repair the power board as we blew a fuse in the unit and are having trouble getting a ...

... we went in, making a lovely backdrop to this quite special place. You can park below or above the village and the steep steps to the church are quite hard work to climb up, yet alone crawl up as many pilgrims used to!! The village is pretty and quite small with lots of local produce, arts & crafts to gaze at or even buy.

Le Roque Gageau is a short drive away and is built on a wedge of land up against and into the sandstone cliff from the river. Many of the houses ...
