As I went down the escalator I sang to my self "it's fine its just an escalator" over and over again only to find at the bottom of the escalator the security guard had been listening to my song all along lol. ... things happen when you are there. Neither my Belgian card nor my two Canadian ones worked in the ticket machine, although I finally got them to work in a second one. I grabbed my ticket, raced down the stairs and….saw no train. I figured I’d missed it, then turned around just to see that it had stopped further up the platform and was pulling out of the station. Well today was the start of our Interrailing and we were due to take the short journey from Brussels to Dusseldorf.

Unfortunately, half an hour out of Brussels there was an 'incident' and the train came to a slamming and very abrupt halt.
