Another quiet breakfast at the gites. Nice sitting in the sun with chooks, cats & rabbits running all around. Breakfast nearly consisted of venison as came that close to running over a deer last night it wasn't funny. But great driving skills by me saved the day & the deer. Leo & Lennie then took us for a drive to a little village, Brantome, 50 klm's away for a drive. Nice ...
... br> Leo & Lennie came over to pick us up then we all went to a local market. Mainly just a lot of other peoples junk but interesting. Then went for a drive to an old castle, 1701, which has been restored in another little French village. Then an old Roman bridge around 1000 years old. ... one up off the road in Paris ( edit by Tim -she was young but it had rained and lost control of her bicycle on the slippery road ) and had one fall on him in the chateau, we will have to keep an eye on him from now on. We had a cold drink in the grounds gazing up at the chateau.
Back to the car and off to Angouleme, the tolls cost more than the diesel, and the exclamations when you have to lean out of the car to pay the toll machine!!!!!! ...
... a nice Thai restaurant which got us excited but when we got there 'service complet' (full of English) so I asked in a bar if there was a chinoise but when we got there it was shut on a Wednesday - only in France! We had to settle for a Brasserie meal, not great. Back to the house, it was fab but very shabby, floor tiles broken in the bathroom, wooden slats loose in the bedroom, paint peeling everywhere, it was a health & safety nightmare but still ...
