I totally forgot to mention two really neat parts of our day yesterday. So, here they are with some neat pics too!

First, during our walk along the city wall we found an exit with a long (and steep) path to the river valley below. From our B&B room we can see the cute village houses down there, so we figured we might as well check it out. For some reason we just keep choosing to walk up and down sleep hills and stairs! Maybe that's why we've been so sore the whole ...

Christmas explosion!

... takes you through the history of Christmas trees, ornaments and Santa Claus. It was cute but I feel like we probably could've saved the eight euros and spent it on some gluwein later. The best part- shopping for Christmas ornaments in the store afterward. This Christmas store is absolutely unreal, and is why I named this post Christmas explosion! It felt like the store never ends with each room opening into another bigger room. Unfortunately they didn't allow ...

The view from the top was so worth it, Tess & I didn't stay up there long as it was too windy & chilly for Lily:)

We walked around the town and the markets. Ate Bratwurst rolls AGAIN for ...

... the moonlit sky. Pictures couldn't do it justice, since we didn't bring a tripod on this trip. What a night! We window-shopped our way back down our street--the safest way to shop since the stores are all closed. We had a beer in a little street cafe, and came back to our hotel via the alley: the front door closes at 9 pm, and our key opens the back door to the courtyard. And now it is time for bed! We regret that we only had this one day in Rothenburg. ...

Karlovy Vary

So after a very late night last night it was up early today to head out for a 9 1/2 hour excursion. We were headed to the spa town of Karlovy Vary- about 20 kilometers from the German border. The town was originally settled by Germans but now is heavily populated by Russians. There are 16 mineral water springs in the town, in addition to the many hotels and "sanitariums" where one can bathe in the mineral spring water. Each tap has ...
