... to Rhonda and her advice, we also visited St Nicholas Abbey, which was lovely…..and in the evening treated ourselves to dinner at The FishPot (excellent) after lunch at Nanika (no wonder we piled on the pounds this holiday)!
All in all, a most relaxing and enjoyable end to our Caribbean adventure…..the R&R necessary to ensure a calm approach to our 44 hour journey back here to Surabaya!
... his hardest to get me on a plane, however my not acting fast enough led to a very good ticket for $500US slipping away. So I pulled some strings, and I'm now going to Toronto direct on Wednesday I'm bummed out like mad that I can't go to NYC and possibly not even Detroit, but I guess it just happens sometimes. Next time I guess.. But at least now I can go to Canada! Wednesday can't come fast enough.
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffeThis is my third day trying to get out of the island on standby. I was 38/47 on the list earlier. So many families of staff members using their tickets for holiday.. It's insanity. It seems to be impossible to get out of the Caribbean right now! Hopefully I'll figure out something soon, otherwise I may have to cancel parts of my itinerary.. :(
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffe... Vice President, Marketing and Sales, said 'We are tremendously excited about the Barbados Gourmet Card, which follows on from the success of Barbados being the only Zagat rated Caribbean island, and we warmly thank Mr. Winner for his fantastic endorsement. We take food very seriously, which is why our small island has so much variety and choice and to quote Mr. Winner, "The place is a culinary paradise." Visitors to Barbados in 2009 can make even greater savings ...
Brdgetown, Barbados relaxinter... I was a little bit disappointed that the tour did not stopped here. I would have like to.
We then proceeded to St. John's Church which is perched 800 feet above the Atlantic ocean. Here, we got off the bus and enjoyed our tour inside as well as outside the church. It was amazing. From the back of the church, a magnificent view of the blue azure ocean could be seen. It was absolutely breathtaking.
There were several tombs ...
... Hourrah! Mi and I decided to sit way at the back of the boat for more excitement. Well, we sure were not disappointed. The ride was extremely a high speed one. With excitement, I kept yelling and yelling as water kept splashing on my face and the boat jumping the high waves. By the time we arrived at Turtle Bay, well, Mi and I were soaked. Regardless, we had our bathing suits on. Ha Ha! It sure was a fun ride ...
Barbados, Barbados momentsintime... stop is Africa, four days away.),and today we experienced the kind of torrential rain you can only find close to the Equator...but more about that later. We started the morning in the sunshine on a shore excursion with a professional photojournalist who makes his home on Barbados. This is one excursion we were really looking forward to because Deb and I are crazy picture-takers and this excursion held the promise of being taken to the most beautiful ...
Bridgetown, Barbados tomtravel... me and actually going to the surface to check and see if she was up 'getting air' (her way of saying she needed daylight), I decided to venture back down again, now getting a wee bit concerned. Then I noticed bubbles that could come only from a tank. I followed them down, down, down and thought: "this cannot be Ingrid, she wouldn't be down on the ocean floor or at the dock level of the old sunken boat we had explored..." and then sure enough, as fast as I could ...
Bridgetown, Barbados gwaymar... decided to paddle out back to where the bigger waves were, which was a bad idea because apparently while i had been in the little cove a swell had come in and the waves had gotten so big that elise had to get out and watch. i got completely destroyed by one wave, which ripped the board off the leash attached from my foot and tossed me all around the water. after it was done, i had to swim all the way back to the beach while big waves were still breaking. i was glad for all my ...
Bridgetown, Barbados bdaly334... stock up on barbeque niceties and liquid lovelies. The town didn't have a lot to offer in the shop department, I mean no Prada or Gucci, what's a boy to do? So we headed straight for Woolworths and left laden down with peppered steaks, chicken, corn-cobs, wine and a 24 stubbie pack of Toohey's Red Bitter, which at 5 per cent proof and £10 a pack was ultra-cheap and worth a go. Does anyone have the phone number for Alcoholics Anonymous for when I get home? We dragged our bounty ...
