... spot, and up there in the most beautiful beaches in the world. I'd say it's true. It's certainly unspoilt and local with no high rise hotels around a majestic sweeping bay. Not far out of Hanalei the road runs out, and after that half the island it totally unreachable except by foot, boat or by air.

If you've seen the film The Descendants with George Clooney then you may remember the beach he strolls down and goes into one of the houses ...

... course. Went to 5 PM Cliffs reception, met some new friends and talked story for a bit. Had a few drinks and some pupus. Still a bit hungry so went to. Hanalei and visited the newly opened Puka Dog. Enjoyed the delicious health food they offer ( I jest ). But great dogs with wonderful relishes and tropical ...

Oh! But the best best best part - was my Nexus access thru Customs and Security. Sweeeet! No lines. Amazing!

My flight from LAX to Lihue was pretty good too (5 hours 45 minutes). I had the entire row of seats to myself….so I could lay down and sleep - which I did! Almost like being in first class! But then….the wheels fell off again. No luggage! Hahaha. No worries….my bathing suit is in my carry ...

... We walked the beach a little to enjoy the ocean and the views, including views of the Na Pali coast itself. We then started our hike. It's 2 miles to the next beach, but after talking to a state park ranger about the conditions of the trail, we decided to do a shorter hike. He told us things were quite muddy and slippery further on, and with the heavy rains we got last night, it was easy to imagine how that could be the case! It turns out the start of the hike ...
