... has one third of the island's people. We spent several hours in its excellent museum. Much is made of their Celtic and Viking heritage. The Vikings were a pretty mean lot, but then I expect they were all a bit rough in the dark ages. The Celt's innovation was iron, especialy their iron swords.

Later we took a bus North to Laxey, home of the deepest lead mine in the Victorian world.

... me being one of those) scary. I didn't have the best foot wear on and had minimal grip on the soles and so when I did a couple of skids I nearly as they say s**t myself. The Manx government must also have trust that people are sensible as there were no signs for Danger but looking at it, if they did it would of ruined the scenery. I will advise anyone that goes there to wear very grippy shoes, keep dogs on lead and avoid taking children that need supervision We next ...

... patches of hard ice, the rear wheel keeps going into a spin and loosing traction. The main goal is to just keep up momentum and hopefully I will make it back to the race track at the summit!!

After what seemed an all mighty struggle I managed my way back to the race track!! It may well only be about -3 out here but after that struggle I had sweat running off me and the cool air was a good welcome!!

It’s not easy for me to go up a lot of stairs these days but I have always maintained that the best stuff is up so we went. It did have marvelous views. ... all the racing teams and "privateer" individual racers have their pit stops, and where all the sponsors have their tents. We went up into the main grandstand, which costs something like $400 for ONE seat for ONE race. From there we could see the scoreboard, which had room for up to 97 racers - that is the highest number of racers in one single race.
