... to France, Spain, Rome or the Holy Land. There is a large castle on the top with about 15 - 20 buildings on the lower part with a harbour next to the causeway. It was bought by a family in 1650 and has been in their care since. I presume this was another property taken over in the Reformation with the original monks and tenants turfed so it could be sold to some Nouveau Riche of the time. The current exhibition on search and rescue was well done with stories of past rescues and a sea king helicopter in the exhibition. It well worth a visit. ... and Trekissick of the River Fal estuary. Glendurgan also had huge, historical laurel maze, the centre of which I tried and failed to reach! Trelissick was perhaps the more colourful of the 2 and had the more impressive view out beyond the garden but I preferred the lush, green tropical planting scattered around Glendurgan and the beautiful views over the garden itself.
