In Capetown

... next week.

Capetown is beautifully place , great scenery Jen and David are great people. The thing that shocks me is the line in the sand called a road. Shanty town on one side of the road and Big fence with razor wire, private army etc.. on the other. Money and no money. ¼ of a million dollar car and the man sleeping in the gutter next to it. Interesting when coming from a country where there is little povitey.

... conversation actually went toward religion a bit, and it came out that I am a Christian. They were all just like, "Oh, cool," and we talked some about Judaism and Messianic Jews. Only Joan was there with me for that conversation, but she was super interested, especially since her boyfriend is Jewish. I hope to continue that conversation with her again in the future, should it arise! ( :

We ended up sitting around and talking till pub night started and the later it got more friends came up. I met up with Emily who I feel like I have seen in ages (actually just since before Namibia) and we caught up and ...

... live near the water in nice homes with beautiful views. English is the main language. However, as soon as you head to the burbs, Africonce is the first language. Dutch is the main influence with some German, Portugese and English. It is so strange to see these white women with blond hair speaking Africonce. South Africa also has BEE, "black economic equality ...

Piet's Africa Top Five

... bush walks, including one of the absolute highlights - a herd of zebra stampeding past us in a perfect arc. 4. Livingstone and Victoria Falls, Zambia - I have been to Victoria Falls before, but they are still an awesome sight. We enjoyed a walk along the Falls, and a great view from a helicoptor flight. We also undertook white water rafting on the Zambezi, and despite a bit of a scare on the first rapid, had a great time. 5 ...

SOUTH AFRICAAA!

... Africa, that¡¦s one of the first things on my list! The next morning was shark diving! We woke up really early and drove the 2 hours to the diving site. We went out on the boat and it was INSANE. We took the boat out only like 20 minutes from shore and then they put the cage in and start putting the chum (basically fish guts etc) and bate into the water. We had a marine biologist on the boat and she explained to us all about how it works and why it isn¡¦t bad for the sharks. I ...

... went back to our room and fell asleep from 2pm until 5pm. Rise and shine and what next, well, get ready for dinner of course, since we were a little short on energy we decided that day 1 would be local and we would venture out of the square on day two. So we popped to the Italian in the square to check out the menu. I think we were both after steak, but we checked the menu out and were both convinced we were hungry and going nowhere else. Porcini was ...

... over $20 each and entered the cable car cabin. To make things worse when we got in the car we noticed that the floor spins around so everyone can see the view on the way up. I think I would have been okay if this didn't happen. I can't say I enjoyed the trip up, I was to busy grabbing Petes shirt and only peeking out the windows occasionally. At one part of the trip up I grabbed the drivers armed and in a very firm and scared voice asked, "How ...

Also among the visitors to the island was a man who had spent a year at the prison and I was lucky enough to speak with him very briefly. Day 3

... are plenty of things to do. Cape Town winters are not the best though, so make sure you bring lots of warm clothes and a rain jacket. However on a good day Cape Town is really warm, so bring your beach gear too.

After a 5 hour sleep, I woke with 2 hours left to go and breakfast was just being served. When we at last got off the plane I was so relieved but we had to wait ages in customs. We got a taxi outside the airport where we got our first sight ...
