... very favorable as they seem to spend all their time in the VERY expensive jewellery/watch shops that we could only look in the windows of and stare open mouthed at the prices. Still after a couple of pleasant hours wandering up and down we decided to visit Hooters for coffee, not sure why Andy insisted on it!!!! supposably one of the best restaurant/bars in Interlaken to view the Jungfrau from but being as it was covered in cloud one can only assume there were other views Andy ...

... pretty, around Lake Lucerne and past lots of farms and wineries - I know a lot is about the geography, but is this place so pretty and unspoilt because they didn't fight in the wars?? Or because they didn't have a navy and therefore didn't busily go about building empires in the new world? I do wonder. Once we get past Bern and into the Bernese Oberland the scenery becomes jaw dropping. Seriously ...

Interlaken was our first stop in the Swiss Alps. And immediately, we were taken by the town nestled between two sparkling blue lakes linked by a river flowing through the town and snow capped mountains. This was the image of Switzerland we had in our heads, not the business centre of Zurich. The walk to the hostel was very short but it was by far the prettiest walk to a hostel I have had the entire trip. ... near Montreaux we went down to the lake for a swim and a wash. Checked out the Chateau in Montreaux then back to the lake for lunch and another swim. Left in the early avo for Lyon.
