We relaxed on the rooftop terrace at this lovely place and enjoyed taking in the view and atmosphere. A large wall and gate was erected in front of the old kasbah village and used in the movie Laurence of Arabia.

Our first stop was at one of the "1001" kasbahs along the old road. ... we decided to just eat at the Bagdad Cafe where we were staying as the owner earlier said that they also serve wine with dinner. Could not resist with an offer like that! For Entree we had lentil soup followed with a Tajine each. Fran had lamb with prunes and I had chicken with vegetables. Apart from the chicken having been around the yard quite a few times it was very nice. For dessert we had sliced oranges sprinkled with cinnamon. Yumm!

... perfect blend of natural beauty and human presence.

I decide this is a nice finishing touch to my hike. I know there’s a lot more to be discovered up the road…but that’ll have to wait for another time. For now, my exploration of the Oued Melh River Civilization is over… I hop on a rural transport van, and head back to where my hike started ...
