We relaxed on the rooftop terrace at this lovely place and enjoyed taking in the view and atmosphere. A large wall and gate was erected in front of the old kasbah village and used in the movie Laurence of Arabia.

Exploring the Kasbahs at Aït Benhaddou
... our SUV; we were at a bit of a loss as to what we were seeing.
Our first stop was at one of the "1001" kasbahs along the old road. I cannot remember the name of this particular Kasbah but it was a beautiful day and the reddish adobe stood out against the clear blue sky. We have a lot to try to accomplish today. Over the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka, the pass through the mountains on the N9, climbing to a little over 7,400 feet. The views should be fantastic.

... we decided to just eat at the Bagdad Cafe where we were staying as the owner earlier said that they also serve wine with dinner. Could not resist with an offer like that! For Entree we had lentil soup followed with a Tajine each. Fran had lamb with prunes and I had chicken with vegetables. Apart from the chicken having been around the yard quite a few times it was very nice. For dessert we had sliced oranges sprinkled with cinnamon. Yumm!

I decide this is a nice finishing touch to my hike. I know there’s a lot more to be discovered up the road…but that’ll have to wait for another time. For now, my exploration of the Oued Melh River Civilization is over… I hop on a rural transport van, and head back to where my hike started ...
