We got a brief slice of sunlight when we woke in the early morning. Soon after, the cloudy overcast closed in. making the mud brick houses in At Benhaddou across from us blend onto the hillside. Not ideal for pictures but great for me (cool). Intense sun zaps all my energy. We had breakfast of pancakes, yoghurt, jam and almond ...

... our SUV; we were at a bit of a loss as to what we were seeing.

Our first stop was at one of the "1001" kasbahs along the old road. I cannot remember the name of this particular Kasbah but it was a beautiful day and the reddish adobe stood out against the clear blue sky. It was only a matter of time before another large truck coming up, crossed to our side around a bend and clipped the left side of Mabel.

    Luckily there was only ...

    Day 162
    2 hrs, 3.0 kms

The next day I have two objectives in opposite directions: one is to hike up this river valley a bit further, even though I know I’m not going to be able to reach the end of this "Valley Civilization" on this trip… the other is head back to the main highway all hike to Ouarzazate, thus creating a Superhike. I decide to continue on forward for as long as I dare, than catch some sort of transportation back.

    But first ...
