Today I visited the Huaisheng Mosque, another of the recommended sites
from my arrival pack.
This is the 2nd mosque I have been to now - 1st one in
Xi'an, when Michael was visiting me.
A mosque visit is very different to a temple visit - for
starters, there are no crowds, and no joss sticks being burnt. The GZ mosque
covered a much smaller area than ...
... and done with pretty quickly, and he hadn't taken too much off which was a bonus.
I then got myself some yummy jiaozi for lunch, little steamed dumplings with meat and veg in, and headed home just before the first thunderstorm of the day hit.
Its my day off today, so will likely spend the rest of it watching movies and/or reading, as I am feeling in need of a proper rest day.
Its been incredibly hot here - yesterday the temp was 37, with a real feel of 50 - ...
... apart from the bit where we were hurtling down the runway and the pilot slammed the brakes on just before take off. It was nothing to worry about, just a flashing 'critical failure' light on one of the engines. After a few minutes of engine revving in the stand-by zone we were deemed 'Okay to fly' and we took off.
Eleven hours and 36 minutes later we landed in Sunny England.

There have also been a lot of earth works going on
outside my apartment since end of Jan, and it seems there is a golf driving
range being formed. It doesn't really impact much on me - I still look out
through trees and get a glimpse of the grass area. I managed to find some early
photos I took, so you can see the progress.
