A lot of people think of China as a bit of a backwater place and a large part of China is, but Shenzhen is a modern well laid out metropolis that would rival many cities in the developed world. ... afternoon and evening, constant downpour and even lightning and thunder! We bunkered down inside our timbered hostel playing pool and uno.

The next day we got our ponchos on and prepared to get soaked which we most certainly did! We trekked from our village through Zhonglu village to Ping'an which took 4.5 hours. We walked through endless rice terraces observing the farming way of life that the locals live.

Lucky for me, Marco had chosen to stop and rest at a covered area around the corner from there. I was able to catch my breath as well as gulp down a bottle of water. We relaxed for about 10 minutes, but I had a feeling that I was not going to enjoy the last section of the ride. ... just barely. At this point it is important to realise that the body is about 60 % water, and so I had just completed a 60 % weight loss program. The game progressed and it was late in the 3rd quarter when I had my chance... the ball came over the top, and I came down the right side in pursuit. This is where I realised that to get the ball I would have to engage my near blinding speed.... well.... that did not work out so well, as 1, 2, 3 ...
