I'm walking in Prague
... 8217;s we walked past the Museum of Torture. As it was open quite late, we decided to pop in for a look. There were lots of interesting and horrible things. One interesting thing I’ll share is that the Hapsburg Empress Maria Teresa, who everyone had said she’s so lovely, had actually authored a book on torture! That was a surprise. I’m not sure why we went in there as we both came out horrified, had to walk back in the dark and I was worried I’d have ...

... a piece of the True Cross on which Jesus was crucified.
Now, here in lies the rub, none of the artifacts or crown jewels are still housed at Karlstejn, they're all back in Prague at Prague Castle. Which, I had quite the eventful journey to last night, but I won't go into that here, you'll have to e-mail or call me so I can give you that story. So, back to Charles IV and his castle of jewels. I feel reassured that the future of the Catholic Church is secure, as it certainly owns the best land and the most amazing churches in Czech, France and Italy. Maintenance bill in the future could be an issue but the value of the capital assets are unfathomable.
Write again soon. Hope you are all well and happy. Love D-M (and Pete) ...
Prague in the (almost) Springtime
... ankle deep in mud and smack bang in the middle of this homeless squat. That was when we started to realise something was amiss and we beat a hasty retreat while hungry beggars looked on like villains from “The Road”. It took us about an hour to get back to the Bridge, which was quite nice by twilight (yes, we left for the bridge at midday.) We flitted about on the other side of the bridge for a bit, which was a bit posh, then went home for the second ...
