Maria gave us some restaurant recommendations, one of which specialized in chipirones (txiporones en su tinta or squid cooked in their own ink. They were great. Of course, Judy opted for a non-fish dish which was equally good. As we stepped into the restaurant, about six gentlemen at the bar broke out in song (not for us) and sang about 6 songs ...
... Guggenheim museum which is probably what Bilbao is most famous for. We had always planned to do it but not this early so we decided to just get it out of the way even though it was a beautiful lovely day.
It had a bit of a line but nothing major and we were soon inside. The best part about it was the building itself, which is architecturally amazing, and there were a couple of really cool exhibitions inside, but also lots of average ones. ...
... I was treated with respect as soon as I walked into the door. The owners were a lovely couple who were happy to see a new face. They took the opportunity to teach me some Basque and make some great restaurant suggestions.

I went to two gelato places! I tried a whole bunch of exotic flavors to add to
my list. I had Crema Catalina, Donuts (it tasted just like donuts!), Salmon
(blegh!), Bubblegum, Mojitos, Waffles with chocolate, Rose Pedals with
Cinnamon, Violets (the flower), Coca Cola & Red wine, and the last two,
Squid ink and Foie Gras were the two most repulsive flavors I have ever tasted.
But at least now I can include them on my list! ...
