Today we wake up and get brekkie together. I choose roti Canai predictably and then we head to Lazy Buoys. We get geared up and walk down to the shallow water. My first impressions are terror. My breathing will fail me and I will not get along with the regulator. But I calm myself slowly and improve over time. Our instructor is Pan who is dating half Swede/German Steph. ... It took almost an hour from the jetty to arrive at fauna Beach Chalet. So, wear the life jacket and enjoy the ride!
*Tip: The price (foods, souvenirs, drinks and almost everything) at
the island will be double or triple the price from the mainland.
Advisable to buy few mineral waters from the jetty for your daily
consumption on the island..
... had a very long journey to Kota Bharu on the north east coast. From door to door it took 11 hours on 4 different buses, and they were very bumpy! Kota Bharu is a Muslim majority city and you can really tell the difference from the rest of Malaysia. It is not very touristy - really just a pit-stop for the Perhentian Islands which we go to by boat tomorrow. There are no roads or atms, but hopefully some great snorkeling and relaxing!
