Jessica, the CLO at the centre got us a driver to take us to Dragon's Head, Qinhuangdao, where the Great Wall goes onto the sea. We left at 7am and got there at 12.30. The Dragon's Head is actually at Lanlongtuo. We drove through Qinhuangdao which is a bit 'back of beyond' and then arrived at an area they are developing into what looks like it will be a huge seaside / holiday home resort. The Dragon's Head is the part of the Great Wall which us built into the sea, ...

On saturday morning we took the D-train out to the coast to see where the Great Wall ends, or begins. On the sunday we got on a chartered bus to visit a less touristy place at Dongjiakou. After a long time I think my sister has fallen asleep. Now I'm waiting for the rest of my trip to ...

... Big ports and high rise buildings with the old stuff still in the middle. It appears they have been doing a lot of work to restore this part of the wall and the village inside the wall was very quaint. Just up the beach we went to have a look at the City of Peaceful Ocean. This is where they honour the goddess of the sea. There were many Chinese standing out on the pavilion overlooking the water and screaming at the top of their lungs. ...

... smaller or comparative space. We couldn't find the hotel entrance but discovered we were just in the wrong lobby. One stop over and we managed to get up to the correct lobby where the staff spoke no English. That made checking in interesting and we discovered the rooms I had booked contained 1 king single bed not big enough for two. Groan. However they had plenty of other rooms available and we ended up with ...
