... think from photographs, nonetheless very impressive. The Mcdonalds and Sparro overlooking the west gate and bustling with patrons is somewhat of an irony, capitalist pigs. Red square and Saint Basils are amazing and obviously should be visited. From here we visited the Gulag museum up the street, again interesting and worth a visit. Returned to the apartment after dinner, planning to visit the Lenin mausoleum and the kremlin on the morrow.

... a bit cooler at this late stage of summer, many families were in the park taking advantage of it. Large areas of just grass and trees were dotted with large orange bean bags meant for people to relax on instead of having to site on the ground. They were very cool. Parks in the U.S. should use them. There were also a couple of small man-made lakes, more like big ponds where paddle boats where being rented. ... Dresses with silver and gold thread, elaborate robes, Peter the Great's enormous boots(he was 6 ft 7) and the sable lined Asiatic crowns with their topaz, ruby, sapphire and diamond decoration. The thrones of the kings are also there, studded with precious stones and made from silver and gold. The riches are unbelievable.

We then saw the carriages, elaborately carved wood with beautiful paintings and topped by bejewelled crowns. There was a whole room ...

... a square but it is bounded by the State Museum, the Kremlin, Lenin's Tomb, St Basils Cathedral and the RUM Building. Outside the State Museum we saw actors taking the parts of various Russian Statesmen such as Stalin, Lenin and even Vladimir Putin all very lifelike and a bit creepy.
