Looking further, you see a deep hole lined with shelves or covering plaques hiding the remains of family members.       ... people in at a time for a maximum of 15 minutes. The amazing thing about this artwork is that during the second world war the entire building was destroyed in a bombing, except for the one wall with the painting on. They have now rebuilt around it and created a high tech temperature controlled room to keep it safe from decay.
