We had a relatively quiet start to this morning as our walking tour did not start until 10.30. This gave us time to shower, pack, breakfast, vibes mums ( mum S was not answering) and Bethany. It is lovely to hear some news from home. We arrived punctually as that's how we roll and the guide did not turn up. A few others were there waiting as well. We gave up and decided to do it ourselves as we really only have a short time until the train leaves at 2 .05 pm. We went to ...

As we go past reception, Pipi suggests we take some umbrellas as rain is forcast. He was right, within 5 minutes it is raining but it is still warm and comfortable. Out of nowhere appear gentlemen of African descent on every corner selling umbrellas, taking advantage of the situation as their normal handbag ...

As we climbed on board, the rain started, and as we cast off, that rain changed to horizontal, so we abandoned to top deck to go downstairs.

Luckily when we reached Urio the rain let up for a while. The only cafe near the dockside turned out to be a restaurant, despite having "cafe" written ...

Well obviously, if you're going to drive in Italy on the first weekend in August, you need to be going north. That was lucky!

Having finished packing up the car with what seemed to be three times as much as we brought with us - how come it fit getting here, and doesn't on our way back? - we added a trip to a supermarket to fill up with cheap booze and Baci chocolates - ah that explains it!

    Marco turned ...

    Robert day 2

Beautiful sunny day the first since Paris really. Also the first of May and the Europeans take labour day seriously. We decide that Milan is a bit gritty and none too pretty and would head out and spend the day at Lake Como. The drive on the highway was eventful. Arrive in Como and parking appears to be scarce so I decide ...
