Honduras- Traveling during a military coup

... to understand the irritated official, we made it through.

Into Honduras, a little fearful and unsure, we went. After 2 minutes
of driving we were pulled over by our first Policia checkpoint. They
checked our paperwork and let us pass.

The next checkpoint, 5 minutes down the road, wasn’t as easy. Three
Policia, one of which was obviously very drunk (or worse), tried to get a bribe out of us. By now, we are very familiar ...

Volcan Cosiguina forms the peninsula, it's a huge but inactive volcano. Volcan Cosiguina is one of the last shelter of natural life in the pacific coast of Nicaragua; this volcano has 13000 hectares of extension and ...

El Salvador part 2

... As it turned out the tourist office was not notified of a very recent change in bus routes and I actually had to take bus 107 as the 163 was no longer existing. Finally on my way, I met with our tour guide who was an older dignified rancher by the name of Don Jose. As we began our ride, we were stopped by undercover detectives who insisted we turn back for the road was not safe due to suspected drug traffickers in the area. After ...

... going to take us longer too export our bikes out of El Salvador than it will take to drive across Honduras. If and this is a BIG IF we can actually get out of El Salvador then enter Honduras drive across part of the country exit Honduras and enter Nicaragua in one day it will be a miracle. We are going to see what happens but if there is one thing we have learned is that border crossings are never fast!

Rested in Antigua and No Problemo At El Salvador B

... wanted to polish my boots, which were filthy. I had a lot of fun bantering back and forth trying to agree on a price. I started at .25 cents and they started at 3.00 dollars. After about 5 minutes we agreed on one dollar. This kid polished my shoes better than new. There were a lot of laughs while he did it. We finally filled out our paperwork and we were on our way. Less than 3 seconds later as we try to enter El Salvador, the ...

Day Trip to Amapala

... and got off. We had to wait atleast 15 minutes in the hot morning sun at just a tiny bus stop with a little awning. The bus stop would have provided sufficient shade, except there were locals with all their fruit baskets and bins of water setup in the shade taking up all the space! Every time a bus stops they run up to the windows and sell their goods to the bus riders. We hopped on the bus to Coyolito and ...

Day trip to the water front in San Lorenzo

... before we finished our walk to the water. Throughout the town are cute statues of sea creatures, like Shrimp and Sea Horses. We ate at a cute restaurant on the water, sitting on the dock hiding under the shade of a palm leaf umbrella. We ate shrimp and fish and they filled me in on the town gossip and goings ons. The food was amazing by the way! After lunch we walked back towards the highway to ...

El Tamarind

... was extremely helpful, he phoned a place and they said OK, next he got on his bike so we could follow to get there. The place is some sort of work centre; it is an "obrero" which is Spanish for working class. (N13.11.226 W087.55.061)That said it is a good place to park, right on the sea front, in a beautiful spot. We went for a walk along the beach, this one is much prettier than the last one, and we are a sight to see as we are the only foreigners here, but although people stare and ...

New Kid in Town

... to want to release some of that pressure, the desire strong enough to overlook the rather frumpy figures of many of the girls. Still it’s pleasant and I find myself with several local friends and guides, though I spend little or no time in the sailors’ bars. I’m not that desperate yet. "New Kid in Town" by The Eagles plays over and over and… over.
