We got picked up from our hotel in Nusa Lembagon and taken to the boat which was ferrying us across to the Gili Islands. We sat at the back of the boat outside of the cabin area in the hope we would get some sun! We were sat in the shade for the entire journey and it looked as if we had swam there by the time we arrived due to the huge waves! On the way we did see dolphins and flying fish making it worth getting wet! We arrived on Gili Trawangan and got a horse and carriage to ...

... reading a book or looking out into the ocean. What we would have called terrible service at the start became just an 'endearing trait' of the island. Ultimately we had nowhere to be so it didn't really matter if we spent an hour watching the ocean while we waited for our food. I took to Facebook to ask anyone I have ever met that lives in Sydney (there were some very tedious links) to see if they could put us up and Vicky canvassed air bnb and the hotel websites looking for cheap offers. We pretty much spent the morning doing this, either messaging people to let them know what we'd need or searching ...

We were up at 5.30am for a long chauffeured taxi ride to Padang Bai to catch the ferry to Gili Air. Hard work this travelling lark but someone's got to do it. In a way it was a relief to get away from Begawan. Such a lovely place and such lovely staff (bye bye Ari) but I don't need my bed turning down or to be constantly plied with unnecessary water. 1-ruv forever Brad. The ferry to Gili Air was pretty good. Started off downstairs in the hold or whatever, which was far too hot ...

... Our drinks were good but we were all surprised by our food. Everything we ordered was very different from the menu. We have come to the conclusion that some places seem to have guessed what the dish is called in English so we sometimes end up with quite a surprise. That night we ate again in Scallywags with Hannah and Andre. This time we shared swordfish and mahi-mahi and were very greedy with the salad bar. We said our goodbyes to Hannah and Andre knowing ...
